Ordering Process

  • Our grass fed, certified organic angus beef is raised on our farm in rural Boyceville, WI.

  • You purchase the beef share from Klefstad Family Farm, and pay the processing fees to Grain Bin Butchery & Market:

    1. Place a deposit for the order (either online or by filling out the order form) with Klefstad Family Farm

    2. You will receive information from Klefstad Family Farm via email regarding processing dates and next steps

    3. The meat will be processed at Grain Bin Butchery & Market

    4. You will pay processing fees directly to Grain Bin Butchery & Market

    5. You will complete the purchase of the beef by paying the remaining balance to Klefstad Family Farm prior to pick-up

  • Processing fees are paid directly to our partners to butcher and package the meat. The cost is $0.85 per pound of Hanging Weight for the meat cutting and packaging, also a flat fee of $150 per animal for butchering payable to the Grain Bin Butchery & Market.

    The butchering fee will be shared ie. 1/4 beef = $37.50.

    There is a $25 fee for each quarter to be weighed out in equal cut weights.

  • You will be able to pick-up at the Grain Bin Butchery & Market. We can also schedule delivery for an additional fee.

  • You will have three transactions:
    1. Deposit to Klefstad Family Farm to reserve your share of the angus beef.

    2. Payment for processing to the Grain Bin Butchery & Market.

    3. Remaining balance payment for the packaged meat to Klefstad Family Farm.

  • We do not sell packaged meat, that is why you make three transactions. You reserve your share of a whole, half, or quarter of the animal with Klefstad Family Farm. The processing of the meat is done by Grain Bin Butchery & Market. Final payment is made to Klefstad Family Farm after a final weight is recorded.

Product Questions

  • Grass Fed Beef comes from cattle that are pasture raised on grass & hay (WITH NO GRAIN). Animals diet is derived solely from forage consisting of grass and legumes.

  • Certified Organic means that the agricultural products have been produced according to the USDA organic standards.

    This certification includes all field activities including planting, harvesting, and pasture management/rotations are documented and inspected. Weaning, vaccinating, and breeding documents for the cattle are also available upon request of the inspector.

  • There are three main reasons why our angus beef is superior:

    1. We are certified organic through Global Organic Alliance - we have not used any CHEMICALS, or GMO crops on our farm for the past 24 years. HORMONES and ANTIBIOTICS are prohibited to be used with our cattle.

    2. Our cattle are pasture raised and grass-fed. Studies show that Grass Fed Certified Organic beef has lower saturated fat, higher levels of Omega-3, and is overall healthier beef.

    3. Buying local means you know exactly where your meat comes from. Our cattle are raised on our farm in rural Boyceville, WI.

  • How much the animal weighs in pounds while grazing in the lush grass and legume pasture.

  • Hanging Weight is the weight of the animal, after the butchering process as the head, hide, and internal organs have been removed.

    Hanging weight is approximately 60% of the live weight of the animal.

  • This is the final product weight that the customer takes home. This weight subtracts the water, fat, and bone loss from the Hanging Weight.

    The packaged weight is approximately 60% of the hanging weight.
